day 27 obedience
today i am praying for obedience in my husband's walk and life. Lord, i ask you to give graham joy to obey you in all he does today. i pray that he would see this obedience as an act of worship, more precious to you then the songs he might write on the piano to you. i know that when he obeys you, his example and the blessings associated with obedience, flows down to the children and to me. that is a sobering matter - so Lord cause him to want with all his heart to follow your ways today. show him all of the goodness that comes from obedience with you. today is our first child's birthday - i pray Lord that she would acquire a heart of obedience as a direct result of g's obedience to you.
power tools:
proverbs 3:1-3
my son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years, and bring you prosperity. let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
matt. 7:21
"not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heave, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
prov. 28:9
if anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable.
jer. 7:23
...obey me, and I will be your god and you will be my people. walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you.

day 26 his deliverance
today is day 26 of the 30 prayers in mrs. omartian's guide.
power tools:
proverbs 3:1-3
my son do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
this verse resonates with my heart because of the example i see in graham's grandparents own marriage. mom mom and pop pop just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past weekend. the whole family came down to tenthouse for the celebration. one of the aspects of their marriage that was pointed out over and over again was their faithfulness to eachother -- which overflowed in to other areas of their lives -- he has been a pastor for most of his life and she has been his other gracious half. they are such an example of what a committed marriage in the lord is supposed to look like.
psalm 91:4
he will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
psalm 18:16-19
he reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. he rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. they confronted me in the day of my disaster, bu the lord was my support. he brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
psalm 56:13
for you have delivered me frmo death and my feet from stumbling, that i may walk before god in teh light of life.
luke 4:18
the spirit of the lord is upon me, because he has annointed me to preach good news to the poor. he has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed ...
lord, come be graham's deliverer today. reach down your mighty arm to grab him out of dangereous situations. deliver him from temptations and oppression. thank you for your faithful word. amen

purpose
this is an online prayer journal chronicling the prayers i pray for my husband - using stormie omartian's model in her book power of a praying wife. each day she designates a topic to focus on in prayer for my husband and includes bible verses which she refers to as "power tools". i started this about a week ago and have already seen the benefits of actively interceeding for my man. in this blog i will include pictures, verses, links to helpful sources, prayers, and my daily prayer + meditational thoughts for the daily prayer. my hope is that when i send my man out the door for the day, i send him out with the blessing and the blood of jesus upon him. i take my motivation from proverbs 31 and also titus 2:4 (admonish the young women to love their husbands).
in a bible study that i have joined this summer we have been reading through and discussing elizabeth george's woman after god's own heart. one of the ways she encourages wives to bless their husbands, thereby building a home and watching over their home, is praying faithfully for their husbands. she says to pray:
before you speak in the morning;
any time he is home;
before he returns home;
throughout the evening;
on the way to the phone (it could be him);
when you are arriving home and he is already there. (pg. 94)
so this blog is a blend of these two women's encouraging and convicting words of wisdom and my own personal response to be the best wife to my husband that i can be.
